Making Money with Your Blog!
A place for finding the Nuts and Bolts for Making Money Online with Affiliate Marketing Business Opportunity!
Ranking highest in the search engines requires a mix of different techniques.
The two main areas to focus on are "ON page" and "OFF page".
This article deals with "On Page" Optimization.
On Page Optimization techniques you can apply to your website are as follows:
Make sure your page title contains your main key phrase. Many webmasters waste this prime real estate by putting "welcome" or "sitename.com" instead of a key phrase. Ensure your Headline (H1 tag) has your main or secondary key phrase included. Pictures should contain Alt Text descriptions with relevant (Not overly repetitive) descriptions.
Pictures can be named with descriptive key words by using a hyphen format. The example of this for an auto website would be: ferrari-enzo-red.jpg. The page descriptions should have themed words relevant to the page content. The page description must read well to a human and not be too heavy in keywords. This is the text people will see in the search index and the words will help conversions if they are catchy. (A question mark can help click-through rates).
Use "l" as a separator rather than words or "&" or "and".
Use key phrases in your meta tags. A group of 5-8 similar (overlapping) key words or key phrases separated by commas will have more focus than twenty keywords.
The longer the key phrase the easier the page will be be to rank for that term. Generally the longer key words will optimize your website for a more targeted visitor. One word key words are only for the most serious websites where you are prepared to battle it out with other search engine optimizers!
Content must be unique. Your content should be unique from any other website or any other page within your website by at least 25%.
Search engines reward good content because that is delivering the best experience for web searchers.
Content should contain well themed words that combine to give a true representation of the topic covered.
Just peppering your key words throughout a page will no longer work in Google due to LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) measurements. Your content must contain the same words as your meta tags, page title and page description. This is how the search engine knows what your page is about. Having worthwhile original content on your page that people will want to read is the real secret to ON page search engine optimization.
If you do that you will be rewarded.
