Depending on your writing style, how quickly you want to make money, and how much you want to make, one venue may work better than another. Without fail, as you develop better writing skills, you will be able to command higher rates no matter what market you choose.

First, you can purchase a market directory, such as Writer's Digest. This is ideal for writers that want to follow a traditional path to paper based publication. Unfortunately, if you have not sold articles before, or are new to the business of writing, it may be very difficult to break in. On the other hand, once you do make a sale, you can expect upwards of $30.00 per article. You may also want to try ezine publications. While they may not pay as much, they will give you some much needed name recognition.

Second, you may want to try offering your services at various freelance work sites. Typically, the articles you write will be designed based on customer specifications. You will also be working as a ghost writer, meaning that your name will never appear in conjunction with the article. Typically, you will be lucky if you get paid $2.00 to $5.00 per article at the beginning.

Irregardless of which method you choose, you should be able to make a decent living. Depending on sales volume, you may even want to work with both markets, and see if you can duplicate success in both places. One thing is for certain, you will always be learning something new, and enjoying the benefit of working on your own.

The best product to sell on the Internet is Information. By selling information, you will not have any inventory to keep track, and the profit margin for each sale is very high. You can start a business on the Internet by selling an information product like an e-book, which talks about a subject you know.

You can start selling on the Internet by building a website with advertising, affiliate links and associated products. After you have set up your website, focus on the basic, which is to drive traffic, traffic, and traffic. With the traffic, build up a quality list, and then try to convert your list subscribers to your customers.

1. Do a market research to find out the demand for a particular topic. 3. After you have done your analysis, create your information product and turn it into an e-book by converting to a .pdf file.

4. With your information product ready, it is now time to build your website. Your website needs to have at least 3 pages, the Opt-In Page, the Pitching Page, and the Thank You Page. The Opt-In Page is used to capture your visitors information like First Name and Email Address, where you can do promote other related affiliate products to them. The Pitching Page is where you sell your product, and the Thank You Page is where your customers download your products.

5. After your website is live on the Internet, the next thing you will need to do consistently is to drive traffic, but not any traffic, drive quality traffic. Using Google Adwords, which is a Pay-per-Click program, is a fast and good way to drive quality leads to your opt-in page.

6. Lastly, use other Internet marketing strategies to drive more targeted traffic to your website.

Do see your first sale; you will need to be persistent and patient. For one to make thousands of dollars from the Internet does not happen overnight. But it is definitely possible if you persist and do the right things.

Article marketing is one of my favorite methods to drive traffic to a website. It creates some of the most highly responsive visitors and subscribers. This is the main reason why many use this technique because it is so effective.

In my opinion, it is far more effective than running any pay-per-click campaigns. Some webmasters may feel comfortable with say Google Adwords, but I am definitely more comfortable and confident with article submissions. I feel I can give more compelling information through an entire article than I can through three lines of ad text in order to get the reader to take action.

Article marketing has become quite effective to drive qualified traffic to a website. One of the biggest reasons for this is that, when someone reads an article and clicks through to a website of the article writer, they already know as to the name of the person and what is he all about.

They simply come to the website, since they want to gain more information. People, who pay a visit to the website, through article writing and are more responsive than those who just visit the website, through Google or other search engines. However, a good thing about this practice is that, clients can very well control article submission efforts.

All that the author has to do in article marketing is to write articles, include personal links in the articles and then, submit them to various online article directories.

These article directories publish the articles of the authors without any cost to them and promote them through the web. In return, the author receives the traffic from them. Hence, article marketing is one of the easiest forms of traffic generation.

A Practical Approach To Creating And Growing An Online Business

There is an incredible amount of hype about how to make money online. It can be very distracting and you can easily fall into the information overload trap and spend too much time and money learning how best to do business online. So how do you beat this trap especially if you are new to online business or web marketing? Woulden't it be good if there was an easy, practical and systematic way to think about how best to do business online?

As a Web Architect I have grappled with this problem many times and I have found that there is one simple way to look at doing business online that really helps me to focus in on what is important for my business. The key is to look at your online business as a set of processes that need to be structured correctly in order for your business to be profitable. This has two immediate benefits:

  • first it gives you a way to think about your business, and
  • second it acts as blueprint or checklist of what you need to focus in on to be profitable

I use a six process model when setting up an online business. Examples of these processes are Acquire Products and Website Promotion. With this model I can be sure that there is nothing major that I have left out and I can then focus on the processes that add the most value to my business.

Another important aspect of this approach is measurement. As a business owner you need to know how your business is performing so you will put in place ways to measure how each of your processes is performing. For example lets say that you use Google Analytics or Statcounter to measure the number of visitors to your website. If you are not getting the amount of qualified traffic you need to make a profit then you need to focus in on the Website Promotion process. This may mean that you re-evaluate the keywords you are using or that you need to look at alternative ways to promote your business and so on.

I hope that this short article has given you a flavour of how a simple way of thinking about your business can help you to improve it. I have coined the term Web Business Architecture to describe this approach because what you are really doing is architecting your web business for success.

I think a good author's resource box is short and sweet. An author's resource box that is written in the style of a classified ad and explains your credentials as well as the benefits of the offer works well.

What I've seen people do to increase their results from article marketing is also to break up a very long article into different parts, so there is part 1, part 2...but leaving them wanting more by having the remainder of your article on your website is a great tactic. I haven't used it myself before, but I know others are having success with it. It leaves things hanging and that always gets click-throughs.

A little enthusiasm in your resource box surely helps, and you do need to be enthusiastic about your products and be willing to put on the sales hat online to make sales, but too much of the hyperbole and people do get turned off. So probably a balance would work.

If you're doing article marketing, be in it for the long-term. There's a lot of patience required to see some tremendous results from article marketing, but the wait will be well worth it, and you'll get some pretty nice long-term traffic.

Articles are a great way to build respect and prove your knowledge in the industry, which evokes trust in potential sign ups. As with press releases, articles should have sound keywords that have been researched extensively. Keywords are the keys (no pun intended) to driving the most readers to your article. The article body should have good organization, with an introduction, a few key points, and then a conclusion. The body should have information that you think a reader would find valuable so that they will consider you a credible source. The resource box is where you call the reader to action, and is the ONLY place you should sell your business.

3. Classified Ads

Classifieds are yet another great free way to market your business. The nice thing about classifieds is that they target the market you are looking for: people in search of a home business opportunity. There are plenty of free classified sites you can post on to attract sign ups. Try to keep your classified short and sweet, and give just enough information to intrigue them and drive them to your website, but not enough to bore them. Remember to research the keywords and title you include, as this is an important step in any free marketing opportunity.
